About John Chakan

“I believe that there are many ways to make an impact. As a young man, it meant serving as the captain of my high school baseball team in New York and leading by example. Then, it meant evoking thoughts and/or emotions as an actor, hoping to move people through the lens of theater. Even as a young person, though, I also always had a passion for helping people. In college, I worked as a camp counselor, drama coordinator and head lifeguard at a children’s summer camp in Northern California. After ten years on staff, I had the opportunity to direct the camp with my wife, Kelly, and we spent the next ten years creating intentional community where children could develop and grow, challenged to explore beyond their comfort zones to become better equipped to face the world.

Then, in 2016, after the close of our camp and the birth of our third child, I was thinking about what I was going to do for the next chapter of my life when I received a call that would change my life. I was at a baseball game with my college roommate, when I got a call that a mutual friend of ours (Jonathan) was looking for some help at the front desk of his audiology practice. Little did I know that what I thought would be a short-term job would blossom into a new career.

What I quickly discovered was that Jonathan was (is!) a deeply good person, someone who cares about his patients, their families, and his community. I quickly found a kindred spirit that believed in the right thing to do was to put the patient’s needs first. As long as we took care of their specific needs, we could create a gold-standard practice built on best practices, meeting each person where they are in their hearing healthcare journey.

I love the opportunity to create a welcoming community for everyone who comes through our door. A big part of that is providing our staff with the procedures and tools to take the best care of our patients, as well as their loved one/caretakers. I am excited about what we are building at this practice, and we strive to always get better as we look to maximize people’s hearing to better engage in their lives.”
