John Chakan

Co-Owner/Practice Manager

About John Chakan

If you had asked me when I was a kid, I’m pretty sure I would not have said I wanted to be the Practice Manager for an audiology clinic. I probably would have said I wanted to be a baseball player or an actor. However, from a young age, I also knew that I always wanted to do something that helped other people.

As a young adult, I was a youth development professional and an entrepreneur, running a children’s summer camp for almost twenty years. After that, I was a stay at home dad with my three kids, but when Jonathan called me in 2016 with a job offer, I had no idea that this would be the next chapter of my life.

What I quickly discovered was that Jonathan was (is!) a deeply good person, someone who cares about his patients, their families, and his community. I developed an interest in the audiology side as well, going as far as getting my hearing aid dispenser license in 2020, but when the pandemic hit, it became clear that my small business experience and focus would be more helpful for the practice.

Together, Jonathan and I, as well as the rest of our team, have a passion for doing right by the people that we serve. I am honored to be the co-owner of the Berkeley Hearing Center, and I am very excited to help our practice grow and provide Berkeley and the rest of the East Bay with exceptional hearing healthcare.”
